This is my first post here. Even though I've been a member for sometime, I wasn't even aware of these forums. When the July VB fiasco happened, I stumbled upon these forums and I was glued throughout the entire saga. U know what, IV was the only one who gave me any kind of HOPE. I am so thankful for what the IV core has done for us.
Its a shame that we all sit quietly and let someone else pay for our problems. After all, most of us have decent paying jobs here. So I too will pledge $ 100 and I am also going to contribute twds IV's cause.........
I hope more ppl will come forward and do the same.

Yes, that is one of the parts I loved in this bill.
We have to go to a consulate in our home country to get VISA stamping.
1000's of us are affected. SKIL bill Section 402 is addressing this.

If someone ports from eb3 to eb2 they should get the priority date of the day they were eligible to file an eb2 and not be able to carry the date from eb3.
Porting makes sense in a family based visa where your petitioner can file for an application while he is still a green card holder and then becomes a citizen which upgrades the beneficiary's category as well.
On an employment visa you file for an eb3 when you are eligible for an eb3 job, you file for an eb2 when you are eligible for an eb2 job. Why would you be able to jump ahead in the eb2 line when you were clearly did not have an eb2 job ? Just because you filed an application at some point of time in eb3 and waited a decade to get a better job doesn't mean someone else has to pay for your (pick one - laziness, ineptitude, lack of skill or lack of knowledge).
Most of IV Core is made of eb3 applicants and therefore there has never been any push from the core on this matter. And as someone said .. You ARE eating my lunch..
That's the way the rule is set and it doesn't matter if it makes 100% sense or not. Just like not all EB3 folks are happy with change in spillover, all in EB2 may not be happy with the way Porting rule is set up. But at the end of the day the total no. of visas available is the same, whatever way it is distributed and unless legislative change is made, both EB2 and EB3-I will remain retrogressed anywhere between 5-15 yrs.

Do we need to include a cover letter ?
Also I am sending the following documents.
1) copy I-485 receipt notice
2) copy of EAD (front and back)
3) two color photos
4) Filing fee check $340
5) Mailer stub received from previous EAD.
Am I missing anything else?

Here is my story...When I came here 12 years back, for initial 3 years I did not applied for GC. Then I started my GC with a employer, company lawyer kept on saying that he filed my GC for one & half year but he did not...One fine morning, I realized that my lawyer was seating on my papers as per instructions from HR..lost around 2 years there. After talking to HR, lawyer filed LC and LC was approved thereafter two & half years..Unfortunatley, at the time of filing I-140, company declared "Bankruptcy" and once agian I was on the road. Joined new employer. New employer said I have to complete one year to file GC. After one year filed LC, my I-140 approved and last FOUR years on EAD. This roller coster is because of...I am from "Retrogressed" conuthry and PD is getting retrogressing now & then...
Still feels that GC is just a part of journey of my life...

Just like to correct you here my friend - Its incorrect to suggest that a house is a bad investment in the US. On the other hand, why treat it as an investment like so many foolish real estate speculators out there. Think of it as a place to live and be part of the American Dream. If not for this dream, many of us would have packed up and gone home back to our own countries.

I contacted my Attorney (Its company attorney) and he told me that he will make an enquiry with USCIS. Apparently he has a list of all the pedning cases who are current this month and he is planning to send the list to USCIS.
Lets see what i get next week. Week 3 done. Week 4 starts!

I have been thinking in similar lines for quite sometime now. I have decided to wait till September 2012 to see if dates reach my PD which is October 2007.

Make it to 2.5K instead of 5K. By the speed we are in right now, I don't think we will reach your destination so early. But contribution is being very slow. Sorry for being -ve.
Had this been a call to build some temple or religious place I bet we would had been collected 5 - 10 times more than what we are at now.
I took the example here from a temple collection in my area, which when planned to upgrade it's kitchen, collected more than 175K in 15 days.
