How come you have EAD card even before the Checks have been cashed?
i thought Uscis first cashes the checks

Two things
1. Consultant can be part of job title and/or duties. Key thing is that job must be permanent and full-time.
2. PERM can only be filed for job that are permanent and full time.

I have talked to few people who do self employment. This is what they have to say.
"As long as the job duties are same or similar, it is fine",
"You must be a W2 employee of your firm"
"The key is constant business and income - which can be proved via paystubs and/or contracts - in case it is requested for"
I am also trying to do some research on this.
A lot of people do go for self employment so no need to be scared as long as the employment is legitimate.

I know you mean well and trying to do something. But, please do not send this letter.
The purpose of this letter is to impress the person you are sending this to. You do not do that by protesting and complaining. Your letter need to be professional, courteous and grammatically correct and pleasant to read. Remember, the purpose is to impress and sell your point of view to President himself. Poorly drafted letter may actually have a negative impact, especially when we are claiming ourselves as skilled professionals.
Achoo makes good points in other post. This is not to insult you and I know English is not our first language and most of us struggle with it including myself. But we should make an effort to get this right.

And btw, I am a skilled immigrant for my programming skills, not an english professor.
One more thing, I am not here to sell my point. I am trying to point out the discrimination in the system. It is for US to decide whether my presence benefits them or not. I am not trying to sell something thats already a hot selling cake.

If they can work out a deal with Bill Frist then the bill can pass Senate as a byproduct of CIR. The bill is so short that they can basically pass it within 10 minutes as long as Bill Frist bring it onto the table.

Wonder if you happened to mention the time line question? One section in the "Guest Worker" chapter says it can not be implemented 90s before the study, would that only cover the "Guest Worker" section or the whole bill? The house will try their best to push an enforcement first approach, if they gain more on that, then we might end up with a bill passed but never take effect. That would be the worst situation.
Today I spoke to a Representative who deals with immigration issue at Sen Mike Dewine's (R-OH) office. I spoke to him for 15 minutes to understand what he and his senator think about this CIR.
Here is he and his senator feels about this bill. It is difficult for him to say that when CIR bill will be introduced in senate floor . It depend on Majority and Minority leaders to decide. Majority leader told to the media that he will introduce before the end of the may, he is mostly consistent, but there are several bills where he has committed a timeline and till today it is not on the floor.
However he told that once CIR pass, legal immigration is already taken care of, but if it does not passes there are bills like SKIL which will be put before the floor. But CIR has to fail or pass before you see this SKILL bill on the floor.

All checks cashed June 8th. It was sent to Nebrasks. I hardy just could read the SRC letters in back of my check. Online image in not good. I guess it has gone to Texas sercice center.

TIP: Print them you should be able to read.:) My checks cleared on the same day got the receipts yesterday. So you should be getting them today or tomorrow. I am not sure if attorney can chose whether to send it to you or not.

We cannot divert the funds already donated to the core IV funds at this moment(we are working on to see if this can be done). We are only collecting the pledge here to come up with the total.

I Remember US companies directly recruiting from India during 1997-99 .This was a very costly affair for the companies. They used to take phone interviews, and then sponsor the H1B for the employee with very high Compensation, pay the tickets for employee and family( usually first class) , give hotel/furnished apartments for 1-2 months, Rental cars etc. This was done when there was a genuine need for the company to hire H1B's as they could not find enough qualified people in US. By 2000 the equation changed and small H1b companies started appearing like mushrooms in most of the big cities who asked for H1B filing fees. Companies were also gaining from this as they have no legal hassle of H1b and the rates were competitive.
I understand taking money from candidates to file H1 is non-sense. I haven't come across any company that does that when I applied for H1. I contacted couple of H1B sponsors. None of them asked for money. I was really happy the way I was treated by my sponsoring company.

DId your checks get cashed and receipts issued.
I heard from a friend,he got a receipt but checks not cashed yet.
My attorney just emailed me, she received receipt notices for 485, EAD and AP for both me and my wife.
My application was received on July 2nd 9:01 AM, if it matters it was signed by R Mickels. Also, there is no LUD change on my I140 application, so I guess LUD changes on I-140 mean nothing.
I have not seen the notices yet so I dont know what the notice dates are.

Well ...if some of our members were not cheap enough, I wouldn't mind asking each of them to send individual flowers through FTD for $30.00. Given the situation where we have to badger each of our members to squeeze out $20.00 for IV contributions - cheap sense makes sense!
I've seen people spend $20 on Sivaji - The BOSS - than on spending money for some worhtwhile cause.

Been in the US since 1998, have an EB-2 PD of 2001, have played by the rules all along. Still no GC... And, the dates are going back to 2000 from the new year.. I've lost hopes...
I'm pretty close to getting clinical depression because of this game played by USCIS, Labor Dept, FBI and my own bad luck.
SKILL bill, OMNIBUS, etc. comes and goes. IV does seem to be doing things to lobby for the community, but let's face one reality. Like a news article said, no one in congress or senate wants to touch immigration even with a long pole until 2009.
The US has been very good to me (other than the GC part), more than my home country (India) which is why I'm still here.
Have invested too much of time in this country to just pack up and go. Just curious if any of you feel this way? How do you handle such depressing feelings?

I had a LUD on 7/28 and nothing after that... My I140 approved in Texas in April2006. I think we should get the receipt number here pretty soon...

Hey dont give up ur Canadian PR. U have worked so hard for it. Just think about it. What if ur US GC goes for a toss (god forbid)? The idea was to use Canadian PR as a backup so do it. Also, I completed my landing in Canada recently. PM me if u need more info...

My wife got a soft LUD on 8/21. She has PD of Dec 2005 EB2 (I). I wa shappy to see some activity but then i saw the following thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum5-all-other-green-card-issues/1599851-ead-renewal-but-i-485-update.html#post1981520) . It looks like some got the soft LUD on their 485 but their EAD was in process and same is the case wiht my wife. She applied for EAD renewal last month.

ok. Assuming BILL pass during the lame-duck session... what is timeline for it take effect? I believe the president has to signed it and it take 90 days from that date to be effective? Experts?
Any stratergic ideas, if positive news does not come out during the lame duck session?
I did not know it takes 90 days; that is too long a period of time. But nobody is hopeful of the bill getting passed during the lame-duck session.

My wife got EAD approved on 16th Aug and I got my approved today. I do not know why 10 days of delay.
One thing I noticed is within last week or so, lot of people are receiving EADs and I485 processing is slowed down. I think now they are concentrating on EADs and come sept they will again jump to 485s. Just a guess!
